Why are modern games so bad?

submitted by Wahaha to gaming 4 yearsApr 12, 2021 10:57:19 ago (+17/-2)     (gaming)

Of course, there's the part where game budgets have been spiraling out of control for at least two decades which means instead of a couple of guys working on something interesting it's a room full of suits deliberating how to reduce risk and naturally there's the growing influence of Chinese companies, which are basically a front for the Chinese government. The new graduates mostly being there to fill diversity quotas of first the college and then the company doesn't help, either. Nor does the fact that Steam took the PC gaming market prisoner through their store, which gave them the ability to impose rules on games published on their platform, just like has been the case with consoles. And with all these in mind, the fairer question surely would been how it's even possible for the odd good game to still occasionally surface.

But here I am asking anyway. Why are modern games so damn awful?

Why can't they just scale back and publish cheaper to make games that runs on hardware everyone has? Why can't they tell Chinese companies to screw off and lock the diversity hires away in the basement or something. Why not just publish games in a physical format again, maybe on a SD card. I'll have you know that a 64GB SD card is only ten bucks.

Is it just me that is unhappy with everything? Does the majority actually like how things are now?

Same as music. In the beginning the musicians ruled then the money guys moved in and copied what worked before.

Not sure about the last point. Gaming used to be looked down on as degenerate itself.

As odd as it seems that applies right now depending on the nation or individual.

It seems every media gets marked as evil and damaging at some point by those with an interest in imposing their will on others and controlling the state of your mind and society. From what ive seen its most common in the infancy of a media type or rather when its existence becomes well known to the public. Video games seem to have been hit harder than most. Likely because their rise coincided with electronic systems of control that make enforcing the previously unenforceable effortless.

Games went the path of Hollywood. Thats why.

We once had entertainment for the sake of entertainment. It came from minds that had creativity and unexplored avenues to share. Now we have a caged box of rules. The notions of entertainment and creativity are heavily tainted if not wholly consumed by the desire for subversion, manipulation, and profit making. So all the vile things that come with naturally apply too.

Gaming is treated like fast food. They seek to send out as much as possible that will be considered palatable by many. The notion of being niche is scorned. Its why sequels and existing characters are used to a disgusting degree. Same with in game ads and making what should be a game into slave like grinding in an attempt to connive more money from you.

The mentality is very unlike food that would be made slowly with care and affection without regard for profit. Something crafted with generational teachings by family members that sought to nourish, show affection, and spread joy through meals.

They wish to create an industrialized drug restricted by standards. The intent being to manipulate your feelings for their own benefit. Since their benefit and not yours is the priority the quality can be anything that sells. If youre big enough you can always sell.

There is no soul. Where one could create a thing of unrestrained beauty crafted to be what the maker themself loves and shared for others to enjoy instead things are reduced to a method of paying bills.

Diversity and kikes

I tried to start up witcher 3 again and was pissed I couldn't kill Mislav, the gay hunter who fucked the lord's son, causing another family to be killed when they were forced out of town for righteously shaming the queers.

You're now considered a bigot in video games if you try to burn a copy of the Talmud, shoot/stab/threaten gays, feminists, or slaves, or enjoy the freedom of choice to play games and upload the plays of your games as you so choose. Games are not free anymore like they used to be, because they're all connected to the internet, which therefore, is connected to a bunch of idiots who demand oversight on everyone else because they're too easily insulted.

TL:DR, when you yoke a bunch of people together, and ask them to run a race, they only move as fast as the slowest one. Games have become literally gay.

I think games got bad when they stopped making demos for games

Now they pay $ for advertisers to leave good reviews on metacritic and release games broken expecting patches

I only play early access from largely indie developers, and I have been having lots of fun doing so. The most recent shining example of a small team producing a game with a quality of game-play far in excess of AAA rates titles is Valheim made by a Swedish company. One of the most polished games I have played in years and it is still in early access only about 8 weeks now, insane. To be give them the full credit they actually only have one developer.

Don't give up hope just stop giving money to the usual suspects.

Stopped giving them money years ago. I stopped around 2005.

Same, I feel dissillusuined by the modern gaming industry as well. It's all crap. I haven't bought a game since 2007 when Bioshock and the Orange Box came out. We'll, I'm probably going to buy Postal 4. That's a game made by an indie team in Croatia and they don't give a fuck about diversity. Their game is very degenerate but it's also the kind of game where murdering Antifa is literally one of the game missions.

Factorio and RimWorld are two indie gems, if those genres are your thing

Valheim is an example of one of the reasons why gaming is so bad now. There are way too many of these autistic games where you punch trees and rocks thousands of times to build things, while trying to survive monster attacks and keep meters managed.

Modern gaming sucks ass now, if you aren't autistic, and you're aware of the Marxist propaganda and awful corporate business practices. I haven't bought a single new game so far this year.

I would normally agree with you completely about autistic endlessly popping digital bubble wrap in exchange for small dopamine fixes, but honestly this game has restored some of my faith in gaming. Fun to play with friends, can be turned off at any stage and nearly every element added to the game has been well considered and implemented.

1. Jews pushing their "woke" Talmudic agenda

2. The Chinese market means your writing must translate, and become generic culturally.

It's by design.
It's based on the carrot and stick principle.
The good times that you remember where allowed to happen, to groom you into a form of addiction; an expectation, so that they could use it later on to control your urges. Just like comics, movies, radio, music etc. the gaming industry was allowed to utilize human creativity until the so called jews usurped enough power and wealth from it, while spreading it's addictive seeds everywhere, to then systematically destroy the output, stop the flow of creativity, and control their slaves by their addiction to accept whatever shit the put out.

They are doing this for thousands of years. Always with the intention to destroy the past, exploit the present, and corrupt the future.

I don't know what you're talking about. Go for quality instead for quantity.

I just reiterate the same two games: Leged of Zelda: Botw, Ori and the will of the wisps

Until I find another game that has replay carachter

I mean, all the kids end up playing Minecraft and Among Us anyway.

Steam is hands off with most things, it's one of the least cucked/chinese companies out there.

[ - ] Wahaha [op] 0 points 4 yearsApr 12, 2021 16:31:24 ago (+0/-0)

Steam sends confusing messages, telling everyone they don't do shit, until they find you personally to ban your games for things they told everyone previously would be fine. Damn twofaced cocksuckers.

achievements, all this data telling them how much of a game people were not playing, so they knew what bits they could cut in future titles.

for example

https://www.trueachievements.com/game/Grand-Theft-Auto-San-Andreas/achievements

the last GTA with proper vigilante/ambulance missions, i liked them they unlocked cool stuff, but at max only 17% of people completed the ambo missions and 13% only did the vigilante missions

and they have been dropped from the newer games.

From a religious standpoint, there's nothing that you said that was not CORRECT. However, it's a cultural gap that we've created between each other. Games aren't just games to gamers, as strange as that is to say, the words are hard for me to put together, so bear with me. Sometimes, there's just some emotions that you want to express to someone else that you just can't put into the right words. However, if I told you that "blank" emotion was just like playing Doom 4 using nothing but the pistol and no glory kills, it gets easier to truly hint at or understand. What I'm trying to say is that games are a tool that can be used by anyone to convey a language that is more in tune with what someone would want to express.

I have an uncle exactly like you. I love him very much, but he truly believes that video games are satanic, and he's been so on point that I have a hard time arguing with him about it. While he is very extreme, he's also one of the smartest people I know, and he's one of those people who agree to disagree.

I was worried deeply once that I would create exactly what you said. So, I got up from the computer and did something about it. My business is thriving, my partners are happy, and I have nothing to worry about. I have a great job. One thing my uncle did is that he helped me realize was that I, personally, was using the games as too much of a crutch. So, I stopped. I only game for about 2 hours or less a week, and sometimes he challenges me to stop entirely for a week to two weeks. I'm very capable of believing in myself; if you knew how much weight I lost from the old Voat, you'd probably think I was insane. I misjudged your earlier statement, so my apologies. You're still correct - wasting time is still the equivalent of inserting a void space into one's life, and nature abhors a void. It must be filled. That being said, even a vice like drugs and alcohol in the hands of a monk (someone who controls himself, and not the other way around) is nothing that limits productivity. It gives credibility instead, something that I didn't understand until later. There's never a perfect person, for sure, but there are those who control themselves. When you've conquered that inner battle, the outer one is yours to lose.
