Home the power button in for a long time and see if it reboots back to a working state.
If no, take the back cover off to expose the board... Find 3 little holes for UART connection... Open SSH into the UART. See if your can flash the firmware and roll back the update... Or install Tizen
you can pretty much build your own smart tv these days anyway complete with whichever os you choose.
pretty much any broadcaster you can think of now has an iptv type app (bbc/abc iplayer etc) get a cheap nuc id put windows on it (i can hear people screaming at me for that already) if only because a) you dont actually have to pay for windows or activating it (you can get an install image for free, mod it to install any version of windows, then find a kms service to activate it) if solely because everyone has an app for it. We got foxtel as well here so if youre inclined to get that its now easier to do the ip route than the actual renting a box way. thats what ive got upstairs although i use that one solely for like... rain noises for meditation and shit.
only reason i have a smart tv downstairs is i knew they had them out the back for $250 less than what they were going to go on the shelf for a week later and it was around what i was looking to spend on a legacy tv...
