If I recall that conversation correctly, Christianity played a major role in getting rid of cousin marriage among pagans.

Interesting that the church was implementing eugenic policies like monogamy and a ban on consanguinus marriage. Theres a debate as to whether Europeans werenโ€™t already averse to consanguinous marriage even before christianity though.
