I know nogs very well. I grew up around them and have worked with them my whole life. Let me give you a frightening glimpse into their “thought process:”
In his mind, he is doing a favor by simply giving money in exchange for goods/services. He feels that the proprietor of the place should really be giving him the gum for free. After all, this guy chose to open a store in his neighborhood where they all go to buy things, so he should “give back to the community” because Blacks have been through slavery and it’s hard being a nigga(er) and it’s just a pack of gum. The guy behind the counter should be happy because he could have just as easily stolen it. Really, he thinks about robbing this store very often, but knows that it would violate his parole and send him back to prison. That makes him angry. In his mind, he jealously hates this guy for owning this store or even just being able to hold down a job like a non-nigger. But what can he do? He doesn’t want any more trouble with the cops because if he assaults the guy in a jealous rage, he’ll be arrested. If he steals, he’ll be trespassed and this is the closest store to his home that he already doesn’t have beef at, so all he can do is begrudgingly patronize this place that represents the modest success that he will be never have, so he performs little micro-aggressions to express his contempt for the system he feels he is trapped in.
