You are into mass-manufacture techniques, good on ya mate. But there are plenty of tell-tales the piece in OP is hand-forged in a small, hot fire.

The main/spine bar is one piece, you can see the bandsaw blade gap where he cut it into 1/4s.
The handle is also the same piece as the blade, just with groves chiseled/stamped in before hot-twisting.

The pitting you made by electrolysis is an extreme imitation of what happens to steel when it get hot enough to oxidize with present oxygen, atmospheric or induced, though this method has different patterns than the electrolysis one.

I don't want to dribble on, and won't risk doxxing myself, so I won't post photos. But I am 100% sure the piece in OP was hand made.
I only care because I don't like people belittling the beautiful products of hard work made the old ways.
It's a major part of what makes White people the best.
