If the earth is flat, what the hell is the moon? Is it just a cheese floating in a soup? Why does it have phases? Is it bobbing in and out of the soup like a lumpy potato? How do eclipses work?
the sky has a horizon just like the earth does. The scales are much larger for the sky horizon (IE the sun has to get 1000's of miles further away) but its the same reason you can't see streetlights over the horizon (but again, the horizon isn't caused by the curvature of the earth, but at some distance it becomes too far away and blocked by the closer objects.)
