The platform is solid, there is a reason it has been ubiquitous within american gun culture for more then a century. The gunsmiths of yester year took care and precision in fit and finish of these old girls, the modern manufacturing process leaves much to be desired however. I have seen about a dozen kimber customs shop 1911s that the feed ramp geometry is beyond fucked, to the point where it won't feed anything not 230 ball. And I have seen tons of old clapped out GI models that still run anything and everything all day. Read about the original tests of the platform, truly a monumental firearm that may be old, but all the modern polymer pistols owe another of their design to it. Be it from a glock to a 1911, from a H&k to yes, even a few Tarus, as long as the fitment is there and the firearm is properly maintained and lubricated you can trust your life to it. But not hi points, throw that shit in the trash.
