I don't agree with you that the interviewer necessarily sucked, but it's clear that he had absolutely no idea who he was interviewing. Shapiro, OTOH, was primed to do battle with with high level left-ist troll. The result was just a crappy, unsatisfying interview where everyone was the loser.
