This is an intereting idea, I don't know if it can be blamed entirely on Cali. Certainly they own media, and control parts of the food supply. For now. As for ports there's competing statistics but by volume of trade they're by no means a monopoly: https://www.logisticsmgmt.com/article/top_30_u.s._ports_trade_tensions_determine_where_cargo_goes_nextTrade has a way of sorting monopolies out when goods are commoditized.
