Looking for good Audio book recommendations

submitted by beece to books 3 yearsApr 14, 2021 16:05:21 ago (+4/-0)     (books)

I checked out "Operation Snow" from my local library and listened during the work commute. It was a life changing moment. Currently enjoying John Toland's "Rising Sun" which ties right in.

What do you recommend for audiobooks?

Or listen to the awesome war history podcasts by Dan Carlin.

Along the same lines of your previous book, there's "Farewell: The Greatest Spy Story of the Twentieth Century" by Sergei Kostin and Eric Raynaud.

This isn't political or current events, but I enjoyed " The Roman Empire and the Silk Routes: The Ancient World Economy & the Empires of Parthia, Central Asia & Han China" by Raoul McLaughlin. I learned much more about both the extent of Roman empire, it's trade networks, and the effect of silk in the Roman Empire than I ever thought I would.

There are two podcasts by Mike Duncan on history I'm enjoying: "The History of Rome" and "The History of Byzantium". Similarly, there are two by Dan Carlin I recommend (only two, he's rather a traditionalist with current events and goes along with the "evil Germans" and German blame for the wars). "Wrath of the Khans", about the Mongols, and "Death Throes of the Republic", events that changed the Roman republic to an empire.

I enjoyed the Carlin episode about torture as a form of entertainment. And then I felt weird that I enjoyed it as entertainment.

I stopped my iTunes subscription to his podcast before that episode, so I didn't know what you were referring to. I found it. I'll give it a listen, and I'll probably feel weird listening to it too.

-200 years together is in audio on archive.
-American Betrayal by Diana West is a pretty good (but kosher) history on the history of commie infiltration into the US from the 30s, through the Cold War.
-The Naked Capitalist was pretty good.
-Magician of the Gods

Thank you, I bought the Dianna West book (Jewish writer), but it's not offered as an audiobook. In my local library, 200 Years Together is also not available.

And American Betrayal is in the iTunes Store. It’s definitely very kosher but I’ve found it to be the best book/audiobook to get the foot in the door on normies about communism.
