Far-left Irish politician writes in left-wing Irish publication to criticise anti-immigration protests. The comments are revealing (more so if you’re aware of how left leaning their readership and commentators usually are)

It really started in East Wall in Dublin with establishment and media dismissing it as a racist, far-right minority. It’s now grown too big to be ignored any longer, so the commies are starting to try and counter the movement. This is one of the commies, writing in one of the commie rags, to a usually very receptive commie audience. Even the lefties seem to be abandoning this nonsense and sympathising with the anti-immigration protestors. Hope can be a dangerous thing, but I fear I may be beginning to hope.
