https://mashable.com/article/apple-mac-cuckoo-malware

Mac users, beware. There's a new malware hiding amongst third-party apps that can steal your sensitive data. Everything from your Mac's hardware information, your notes, and saved passwords can be stolen. It can even capture screenshots of your computer while you use it.

This malware has been named Cuckoo by Kandji, an Apple device security company which recently published a report about its discovery. Here are some of the most alarming details about Cuckoo.

According to Kandji's report, Cuckoo was initially found packaged with a Spotify music downloader app called "DumpMedia Spotify Music." The app claims to help users rip music off of Spotify so they can directly download the audio file as an MP3.

Oregon Scientific is out of business. I'm desperate, because they were making the best mini weather stations. I've been using their products forever. Now I've checked their competitors and all their products suck.

Their site is still up, but all products are unavailable:

https://arstechnica.com/security/2024/06/high-severity-vulnerabilities-affect-a-wide-range-of-asus-router-models/

Hardware manufacturer Asus has released updates patching multiple critical vulnerabilities that allow hackers to remotely take control of a range of router models with no authentication or interaction required of end users.

The most critical vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2024-3080 is an authentication bypass flaw that can allow remote attackers to log into a device without authentication. The vulnerability, according to the Taiwan Computer Emergency Response Team / Coordination Center (TWCERT/CC), carries a severity rating of 9.8 out of 10. Asus said the vulnerability affects the following routers:

Another great device ruined by a faggot designer     (technology)

I had great Sony MX3 headphones. When they died, I got the new Sony MX5 headphones. They are clearly designed by a retarded faggot. Buttons are so weak that I always end up pushing them by mistake. The on / off sensor is so crappy that it stops working when the head and ears are sweating. The control sensor is so crappy that it changes setting every time finger touches it.

Many devices that were good are now becoming junk because they are being designed by new faggot designers.

I think the reason white men were pushed out of the tech industry (that they built alone, and it couldn't have been done without them) is because israel decided that the time was right to steal the tech, and they needed to get rid of those privy to its inner workings     (technology)

The terrorist attack by israel with lithium ion battery devices showed that people had no clue lithium ion batteries were that volatile. This has always been the case, and the advent of non-explody lithium ion batteries was what enabled their commercial use.

It seemed like people were slow to catch on to this, and I don't see anything to suggest that the information has spread. It is, in fact, the case that anything with an Intel or AMD processor (at least those two), including all of their white-labeled brands, have had a backdoor since 2008, and Snowden blew the whistle on this, even though anyone working on PCs at the time would know about it as well; and this is why they had to marginalize the white men that were working in tech.

Speaking of white men working in tech, I might as well drop another little nugget of information while I'm here. Those stories of programmers making a quarter mill a years are mostly false and not what they seem, again, for the most part. Devs that were paid that much, especially in the FAGMAN companies, were professional vultures or doing the bidding of israel, wittingly or unwittingly. Vultures just means that they were good at getting other programmers to write code for them, then they'd steal it and pretend they were capable of doing 10 peoples' work. Pretty much no programmer is just so good at coding to simply make a quarter mill a year as a salary - for the most part (I say this in case the All Police come here trying to scream their head off that they know of an exception, and everyone needs to know about it).

Comcast, Charter Sue FTC Over Efforts To Make Canceling Services Easier     (www.techdirt.com)

https://www.techdirt.com/2024/10/29/comcast-charter-sue-ftc-over-efforts-to-make-canceling-services-easier/

Earlier this month the FTC announced it was modifying some existing rules to crack down on companies that make it extremely difficult to cancel services. The agency’s revamp of its 1973 “Negative Option Rule” requires companies be completely transparent about the limitations of deals and promotions, requires consumers actively consent to having read terms and deal restrictions, and generally makes cancelling a service as easy as signing up.

So of course, cable and media giants like Comcast and Charter, who’ve built an entire industry on being overtly hostile to consumers, are suing.

Under the banner of the NCTA (The Internet & Television Association), Comcast and Charter filed a lawsuit late last week in the Republican-heavy 5th circuit, claiming the new rules are “arbitrary,” “onerous,” “capricious,” and an abuse of the industry’s existing authority. The Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) (with members ranging from Disney to Google) also joined the lawsuit.

Corporate members of most of these organizations have a long, proud history of misleading promotions and making it difficult to cancel services. The Wall Street Journal, for example, historically made it annoyingly difficult to cancel digital subscriptions. And telecoms, of course, have historically made misleading their customers via fine print a high art form.

Compaq was an exceptional company. They were making affordable computers with only quality components. It was my first computer. When fucking HP bought them, it turned to shit, and they just killed the brand.

It's sad that today nobody knows about this glorious brand.

I have tried both Yandex and Brave search engines, and they do have way less censorship than mainstream Big Tech search engines.

https://yandex.com/

https://search.brave.com/

I'm talking about the Russian version of Yandex, not Western.

Can anybody confirm, or I was just lucky?

How do people use smartphones on the modern day internet?     (technology)

Got a new phone. It took like 3 days setting it up, way more time consuming than setting up a PC, but in the end I have a clean experience with no ads or bullshit. Full control. Just enough google malware and allowed connections to enable push notifications. But damn... to think people use these things how they come from the factory is insane.

Ads. litterally. everywhere.

You can't simply put a youtube video on and watch it. Because every few minutes an ad comes on and it STAYS ON THE SCREEN till you manually press a button to get back to the video, so waiting 30-60 seconds for the ad to end is pointless. You have to let the gods at google know you are there and physically touch your device to continue their feed of dopamine. Every 3-5 minutes. Forget multitasking or playing a video in the background.

It's everywhere, every app, every website non-stop. The amount of power and bandwidth spent sending in ads and sending out your data is criminal. Is it any better on Iphone? I doubt that. Apple fan boys are generally even worse because they're superficial. I'd take a rooted $100 Android over your $1000 iphone any day.

And most people put up with it. It's their every day experience. A new phone is like a used condom. Have some respect for yourself.
