Look closely at who is in them.

The refusal on the part of many Catholics to accept the proven reality that the clerical ranks are dominated by homosexuals plays perfectly into the hands of those same clerics. Likewise, aside from denial, there is also widespread indifference, which, given the acceptance by most Catholics of the sexual revolution in their personal lives, can't really be all that surprising.

For those who don't really care that their priest is a sodomite, there's not really much that can be said to convince them of how this undermines the Church. But, hopefully, some inroads can be made with those who are still persuadable (or at least open to learning) about where we are as a Church right now and how we got here. And, for the record, we are in a state of total decline — spiraling further downward every day.

And Pollyanna dreams and statements like "Oh, but the young priests wear cassocks" or "The young priests are more orthodox" or "More people are going to the Latin Mass" just don't cut it. On the question of more faithful young priests, there is more required of a priest in these tumultuous times than just his own personal belief and faithfulness. Saint John Paul personally believed the Faith, clung to it, loved it, lived it, and yet, the Church imploded on his watch.

While it's true that the seeds of much of what went wrong when he was pope were planted decades before, it nonetheless remains the case that he almost entirely missed the boat when it came to dismantling the anti-church. In fact, many of the men whose names we report on regularly — gay bishops, homosexualist theologians and so forth — all rose to prominence under John Paul, with many of them actually being promoted by him personally.

For example, Donald Wuerl was made a bishop directly by Pope John Paul in St. Peter's in 1986. Blase Cupich was made bishop by Pope John Paul in 1998. This isn't to knock John Paul; it's to make the argument that good, solid personal orthodox faith is insufficient on its own if it doesn't translate into action on the part of leaders, something true even for a pope. So if it's true for a pope, how much more is it true for a little ol' priest in the middle of nowhere?

A brief personal story to kick things off, if we may.

When Church Militant was in Baltimore last November, where backroom deals between the city and the bishops forced us to have to sue — and win — simply to exercise our First Amendment rights, we had the occasion to talk with a bishop I have known personally for a number of years. I asked him point blank, "Your Excellency, straight up, what exactly is the bishops' problem with Church Militant?" He said, "Honestly? No soft-selling?" I said, "Straight up." He said, "It's because you're divisive; you create division."

Now, for the record, we hear that charge leveled against us all the time by bureaucratic bishops and their sycophants, so it's not like we were appalled. In fact, my only thought was, "Here we go again with the same old deflection." That led to us having a brief discussion on the question of being "divisive." I said, "Your Excellency, how can any of you call us divisive for simply shining a light on the division you all have created by coddling homosexuals within your own ranks, the destruction of the liturgy and so forth?" We don't create it; we just talk about it, while you guys sweep it under the rug.

He said — in a way that actually surprised me — "How do you know all the gay stuff you guys report on is true? Where's the proof?" That is actually a hysterical, uninformed question (or one meant to completely deflect from what he already knew), implying we have no idea of what we report on, don't check the facts (nor double check them) and all that kind of thing.

The Marxists can't control themselves.

No matter how hard they try, the Marxists simply cannot leave the Church alone — the Catholic Church. Speaking spiritually, it's easy to understand why. Satan runs the Marxist media with its support for all kinds of evil, propagating the horrors of the sexual revolution. And because Satan knows the Catholic Church is the only legitimate religion on the earth — in human history, in fact — he aims all his firepower at Christ's mystical body. It is not very hard to do the math there.

But what is curious is the question of his children here on earth. There is something in their psychology that draws them to the Church. They're practically obsessed with it. Check that. They are obsessed with it. It's almost always Catholic churches, Catholic families and so forth, in TV shows, movies, novels, you name it. There is something about the Church — magnetic, psychologically magnetic — where they simply cannot ignore it. So no one can be surprised when these periodic eruptions occur in the secular media, and it seems to be the case that these eruptions are becoming more frequent.

For example, within a 72-hour period, the Church was once again the subject of nonstop editorializing at major outlets. A few days back, The New York Times published a guest essay by Julia Yost from First Things entitled "New York's Hottest Club is the Catholic Church." It was a quaint piece on the increasing acceptance of Catholicism among the younger generations, in reaction to the increasing chaos in the world. It had a tinge of nostalgia sprinkled in with a touch of admiration for the cultural trend.

The piece focuses on a neighborhood in Manhattan called "Dimes Square," which has become something of a haven for those fed up with the zeitgeist, focusing on a blend between traditional Catholicism and Trumpism — a confident yet somewhat mellow approach to fighting back and resisting. It was certainly flattering and somewhat shocking on the pages of the New York Times, no doubt. But of course, anything even remotely favorable to Catholicism immediately brings out the boobirds.

Church Militant's newest addition.

If you even remotely follow Church Militant, you are aware of our devotion to Our Blessed Mother. While the name of the apostolate is St. Michael's Media, we have also consecrated ourselves and our work here to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. We make that consecration every day in our chapel, during morning prayer. And just so you know, the prayer book we have published is available for sale, if you would like. Just go onto the site, and click on the store. We recently updated it.

Now, as you know, our main stage here in the studio is dominated by an awesome statue of St. Michael, the patron of this apostolate. That statue is one of the earliest purchases we made, 16 years ago. And he sat on the stage of our original show, The One True Faith, for every taping. When we eventually moved him to his current home on this stage, we said, "We need Our Blessed Mother in the opposite corner!"

It's close to over.

The memo has gone out: Abandon Biden. Two years ago, in the heat of the 2020 campaign, "Hidin' Biden" was hailed by the regime (the media and the Party of Death establishment), even as he barely left his basement. He granted almost no press conferences, rarely gave interviews, except the ones that were extremely controlled and choreographed, and did almost no traveling.

Yet, despite all that, the media gushed over him, despite knowing he was mentally declining. He oftentimes had difficulty forming and expressing a coherent thought and was allowed to dodge every important question or issue. Meanwhile, Trump was attacked and vilified on every front as COVID raged (or so we were told), with CNN dutifully keeping track of the dead with their body-count ticker updated every minute.

It was so bad that people were told they couldn't dare risk leaving their homes to vote. They would have to vote by mail or drop boxes all over the place. Other brave citizens could come and collect the ballots and hand them in for them. All that mattered was that you got your ballot in. They'll figure it all out later; trust us. We know how that all played out.

In just five decisive counties — Fulton, Georgia; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Wayne, Michigan; Dane, Wisconsin; and Maricopa, Arizona, the vote counting just stopped. Now, these two years later, we have the FBI raid. We have an affidavit that Merrick Garland's DOJ is refusing to release because he says he's afraid it will have a chilling effect on the people named in it. We have what is surely going to be an indictment of Donald Trump, and it is here that this country must stop and do intense introspection to understand what exactly is going on.

This goes back to Barack Obama. Obama hates America, as does his wife Michelle, which is why she publicly exclaimed she had never been proud of her country until they elected him. Obama set about the process of dismantling America by making long-term changes in military leadership as well as in the intelligence agencies. He did so quietly, unceremoniously, and was able to get away with it because his media would never "out him" like that.

Little by little, he switched out former leaders and replaced them with globalist-minded elites who shared his vision of "America last." These are the very same individuals who labored to spy on Trump's campaign and started the phony Russia-hoax narrative. Their plan, Obama's plan, would have proceeded flawlessly and been completed by Hillary in 2016 — except Trump won!

So once they got over the shock, they set about to destroy his presidency by undermining it at every turn, including the 2020 election itself. Now, with Biden in the Oval Office, they are full steam ahead again, reversing all the Trump reversals of their agenda and putting it back on course. They are somewhat behind schedule, but, for the moment, that's okay from their standpoint.

God is pure and simple.

One of the glories of the Catholic faith is its pure simplicity and its simple purity. And this is all that is required of us: purity of heart and a single-minded desire for Heaven. Purity and simplicity share in common with each other the notion of clarity. Everything we need to know in the Catholic Church is very clear.

Purity and simplicity are bound together with clarity. For example, the teaching on the Blessed Sacrament, the Real Presence, is just that. Jesus Christ is really, truly and substantially present — body, blood, soul and divinity — under the appearance of bread and wine.

Simple does not mean not deep. But it does mean clear. You can't get much more straightforward than that. And don't make the mistake of thinking that just because something is cloaked in mystery, it isn't clear. The "how" or "why" or even the "what" of something doesn't detract from its simplicity or purity.

The Host, which looks and tastes like bread, is Jesus Christ, pure and simple. So too is the Church's teaching that if a person is to be saved, then he must not die in a state of mortal sin. He must die in a state of grace, meaning, sanctifying grace, having the Holy Trinity living and abiding in him.

Pride is their downfall.

If you haven't heard yet, Church Militant has now become the no. 1 Catholic target of the Marxists. The constant stream of charges that we are "haters" has actually morphed into how "dangerous" all this blending of religion and politics is, with Church Militant apparently leading the charge.

The liberal establishment, with its pomposity and superiority complex, has just deigned to decide the course of world events and map out its own plans for humanity. If you don't agree, then you're not college educated. If you object, then you're a hater — or, more recently, a domestic terrorist, Christian nationalist or, according to Biden, a semi-fascist.

Think of the arrogance of organizations compiling and publishing a list of so-called "hate groups," then having the allied media publish it for you and repeat it as though it is somehow authoritative. What complete and total arrogance. These organizations make false claims, issue press releases, call up their like-minded buddies in the media, and then the fake-news Marxist media quote them as though these organizations — like the Southern Poverty Law Center and the Simon Wiesenthal Center — are the determiners of all things acceptable.

To show you how lazy the Marxist fake-news outlets are, there was a period a few years back when practically every hit piece done on us included quotes from Mark Weitzman, then the director of government affairs for the Simon Wiesenthal Center. In the original hit piece by The New York Times years ago, the piece that got this whole ball rolling, Weitzman was actually quoted more than me, even though the article was about us and The New York Times interviewed me via Skype for nearly 90 minutes.

Marxist reporters just copy each other's information and themes, call the same people mentioned in the previous report because they're too intellectually lazy to do their own work, and then throw together the same storyline.

This whole hate-group idiocy was devised by the extremist leftist crowd to end all debate. It's just political correctness, which is another idiotic notion they dreamed up on college campuses more than 30 years ago. What a joy it would be to go back to the days of just political correctness. Now, the moment you are tarnished with the label "hater," "domestic terrorist" or "Christian nationalist," you are no longer allowed to speak because you are a threat to our democracy.

How will this all play out?

We are now down to 54 days until the midterm election. Over Labor Day weekend, the polling outfit YouGov conducted a pretty extensive poll of 1,500 Americans, inquiring about social concerns and voting plans. By any measure, it's pretty awful for Biden and Democrats.

For example, majorities or near majorities say the economy sucks, the economy is shrinking in addition to being in a current recession, prices are through the roof, prices will continue to increase, and Joe Biden is a weak leader and should not seek re-election. All in all, not exactly a rosy picture for the commies.

Well, here's a little information that the Vatican is not going to like, not to mention the U.S. bishops.

When Pope St. John XXIII became pope, the very first encyclical he issued was called Ad Petri Cathedram, in 1959. It was written and published barely eight months after he became pope and addresses truth, unity and peace in the spirit of charity. The document consists of 150 paragraphs, and so it becomes an interesting point that one of the very first things the pope approaches as a major topic is the media.

For example, from paragraph 16 (again, near the very top of the encyclical): "Radio broadcasts, motion pictures and television shows which make error and vice attractive must be opposed by shows which defend truth and strive to preserve the integrity and safety of morals." From paragraph 15: "The weapons of truth, then, must be used in defense against these weapons of evil."

It needs to be overthrown – first, in the Church.

The world, the culture we are living in today, is essentially the making of Barack Obama. Aside from the obvious points that Biden was his vice president and Hillary was his pick to succeed him, there is much more at work in all of this.

But perhaps the most disturbing thing for Catholics about Obama's world is the high degree to which leading Catholics assisted him and still support his vision. The simple truth is that Obama won the 2008 Catholic vote with a whopping 54%. He didn't manage that on his own — far from it. This is one reason why it's so important for faithful Catholics to understand their role and the necessity for them to be involved at all levels.

Obama's progressivism was ushered in by phony Catholics who are essentially Marxists. They populated Catholic universities, political offices, think tanks and other influential positions, all while draping themselves in religious-sounding language and pushing the need for "taking care of the poor."

Almost nearly destroyed.

Imagine, if you will, a long train of many cars or boxes that jumps the tracks — your classic train wreck.

An important point to keep in mind, as we think about the train wreck the Church has become, is that the entire train does not jump the tracks at the same moment. On a long train, in fact, it is entirely possible that the passengers near the rear may be unaware that the engine has derailed. It takes time for each of the cars to jump off the rails — a kind of domino effect.

Likewise, there is a certain inertial moment when so many of the engines or cars near the front have jumped the rails that the wreck will happen with increasing velocity for the cars farther back.

Welcome to the Catholic Church train wreck of the third millennium. That is where we are right now. Almost every single car is now off the tracks, and those that have managed to hold on are jumping off at a faster rate. In short order, there will be nothing left.

Of course, in this analogy, the entire train is destroyed and will never see the light of day again. We know that cannot happen in the Church because there is the divine protection aspect.

But that doesn't mean the train wreck isn't real. It means that the Church will be — not can be — will be resurrected and restored, and that it will be done because of Our Lord's promise. He can do a direct intervention, a spectacular miracle — or, as He has done much more frequently in the past, employ human agents to carry out His will.

His will that the Church lasts forever is never in question, off the rails or not — which it is, or very nearly is.

All that said, consider the reality — meaning the scope and level of disaster — of the carnage that is the Church these days. Just last week, the diocese of Madison, Wisconsin announced a plan to slash parishes from the current 102 all the way down to just 32. Closing 70 of 102 parishes, or nearly 70%, is a train wreck.

But why?

Say what you want about Trump, but he tapped into something in the American male psyche.

This is most easily seen in what is happening with minority voters, particularly Black and Hispanic males. Both of these groups were traditionally solid supporters of Democratic candidates.

But ever since Trump arrived on the political scene, males — both Black and Hispanic — have been migrating to the Trump camp. We saw that trend begin in 2016 and only increase in 2020.

Now, with only about a month to go before the midterms, it looks like the trend is picking up speed. Black women are, hands down, the most reliable voting bloc in the Democrat column. But Black males are not so much of a lock anymore.

Democrats still have the majority of Blacks, including Black men, but Trump has cut noticeably into that lead. The movement of male voters is refashioning the political landscape, as sociologists and politicos review the data and try to figure things out.

What seems to be going on, considering it is minority men moving to Trump, could be as simple as this: Trump represents a form of masculinity not seen in these parts for many years.

A major shift is just about to happen.

I'm Michael Voris, coming to you from Taco-land, at least according to Jill Biden. To the rest of Americans who aren't racist, it's just called Texas.

If you missed that little gem she let slip a few weeks back, here it is: As she tried to connect with Latin voters, she butchered their language and called them tacos. Even the really unelected Democrats can't seem to get out of their own way.

There is a horrible miscalculation that the Democrats — who really are racist — made about Latino voters. In a phrase, here it is: "They're all the same."

Democrats have strategized for decades that they will do next-to-nothing to stop the flow of illegal immigration. In the end, it will benefit them at the polls during elections.

The reasoning went something like this: "All these Mexicans are all the same, and the ones already here legally will welcome the illegals, because they're all just tacos at the end of the day."

It's nearly unavoidable. The truth comes out of the mouths of even evil people, the truth being that irresistible.

Just like Whites aren't all the same and Asians aren't all the same, Latinos are not all the same. But when your party leadership is flat-out racist, you see the world in racist terms.

After all, racist Nancy Pelosi just said it's wrong for Republican governors to send busloads and planeloads of illegal immigrants up North because — wait for it — they need to be down South, picking the crops.

The Democratic Party appeals to Latino voters are about as authentic as Robert O'Rourke, a fourth-generation Irish American, running around using a pet name given to him by his family to distinguish him from his grandfather.

Beto O'Rourke has about as much in common with Latino voters as Latinos have in common with "Bo-Guh-Das" — which is to say, nothing. His name is Robert. Period.

But the phony appeal by Democrats here in Texas to Latino voters does have some reasoning behind it. This year, for the first time ever, there are more Latinos in Texas than Whites — excluding Beto, of course.

That's why the eyes of the political world will be on Texas this election — to see exactly how the Latino vote breaks down. Democrats have longed for this moment and helped engineer it, but it might just blow up in their faces.

Latino voters are proving to be much more stubbornly conservative than Democrats had hoped.

In addition to the Democrats losing Latinos over these issues, as well as quite a few others, so too are the U.S. bishops. A little history is in order to understand the scope of the problem.

In short, there is not only a problem of Latino illegals flowing into the country, *there is a larger spiritual problem of Latinos flowing out of the Church.* Yes, it is a "border crisis" that the bishops manufactured — more on that dynamic in a moment.

'Red wave' rising.

In the world of politics, it's an up-and-down affair. It mirrors the spiritual life. Sometimes there are highs and peaks; other times there are slips and plunges. What matters is that you finish at a peak.

Happily, with less than three weeks to go, it looks like the Marxist–socialist Democrats may have peaked too soon.

For a large part of the end of summer until the end of September, the Democrats have almost entirely erased the massive lead Republicans held all over the country. Fueled by the overturning of Roe and falling gas prices, the Democrats had drawn to near even in virtually every poll.

But then along came the effects of Joe Biden's "destroy America plan" — supported by every single Democrat on Capitol Hill.

Well, since those short-lived halcyon days of September, gas has climbed noticeably, there is no end in sight to inflation, stocks have tanked, pension plans have been wiped out and abortion has bottomed out as a top issue, even among women voters who identify as "independent."

And in what will go down as one of the largest strategic blunders of perhaps all time, the Democrats placed all their chips on the issue of abortion. After the initial uproar by Marxists at the Supreme Court's overturning of Roe, the issue has now receded to one of the least concerned about — low single digits, in fact — as people go to the store and gas pumps every week.

Democrats may have miscalculated that people cared more about being able to kill children than dealing with the effects of an economy careening off course.

Mortgage rates have more than doubled, bringing the housing market to a virtual standstill. Investment portfolios and pension plans have been so devastated, that one out of every four Americans now say they have to delay retirement.

As a result, the polls have stopped their freefall for Republicans, and turned around — with gaps between the GOP and Marxists once again widening.

And if that is a disappointment for Democrats, it will turn into a nightmare for them, if it holds up, because many of those Republicans gaining a head of steam are Trump Republicans — and they are heading to D.C. ticked off.

That's a bit two-faced, isn't it?

In the past few days, the retired former archbishop of Philadelphia (and before that, Denver) Charles Chaput stood in front of an audience and decried Joe Biden on abortion and being able to receive Holy Communion and so forth. Normally, actions and statements like those would be worth applauding and, certainly, the pure and simple message is.

However, as usual when a member of the U.S. hierarchy speaks, there is always the "grain of salt" factor you have to consider. *Numerous well-known "orthodox" clergy seem to all of a sudden be so terribly concerned with the state of affairs in the Church that has bled over predictably to the state of affairs in the world, culture and government. It's almost like they have no idea that their reigns as bishops in key times and places around the country actually helped set the stage for this meltdown we are all now falling victim to.

Since Chaput put himself out there with his recent remarks, let's do a brief review of him and his past actions as a good example. When he was in Philadelphia, he hosted the World Meeting of Families. Nothing extraordinary about that until (because there is always an "until" with these "orthodox" ones), he invited two of the most Culture of Death politicos you could imagine — you know, the anti-family guys — to be honorary chairmen of the World Meeting of Families.

One was Pennsylvania governor Tom Wolf, the lowest form of political life possible, because he was the only governor in American history who was also a "death-scort" for Planned Parenthood — you know, death-scorts*. Those are the folks who wear the school crossing guard vests and block access from pro-lifers to women about to walk in and kill their children. Yup. Couldn't think of anyone better to be an honorary chairman for the World Meeting of Families.

Coming in a close second, however — because for Chaput, one just wasn't enough — he installed then-Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter as another honorary chair. Nutter has just wrapped up announcing to the world how proud he was that he and his administration were able to make Philadephia the most gay city in America. Whether that claim is actually true or not is beside the point. Nutter believed it to be true and was happy to take a bow.

So what does the "orthodox" Catholic archbishop of Philadelphia do? Well, make him an honorary chairman of the World Meeting of Families. What else?

What next?

A personal reflection, if I may, on the very sad and disappointing outcome of the midterms: We got out of the studio here around 2:30 in the morning after a nearly nine-hour marathon. As I was driving home in the dark of the wee hours in the morning, my thoughts raced. I went to bed very sad, and woke up sad but accepting of a new reality.

It's not that the world suddenly changed in the wake of the midterms. It's that the midterms simply revealed kind of a final presentation of what had been brewing for quite a while. And what that is, is simple: There has been a foundational shift in civilization.

Looking at this, as I said, from a very personal point of view, stay with me here. I'm 61. The institutions that were the embodiment of cultural life no longer exist. In my life, those would be America, the military, Notre Dame and the Church.

This is simply no longer the same country — in any way, shape or form — as it was when I was young. During the nation's bicentennial (July 4, 1976), I got up at 5 in the morning and watched the wall-to-wall coverage on CBS of the nation's 200th birthday.

I still play Lee Greenwood's God Bless America in my Jeep and belt it out when I'm alone. And yes, I get goosebumps. Now, the country that my heart used to beat so proudly for supports child murder en masse, not by judicial fiat, but now by the will of the voters — and expect that to sweep the nation in the next election cycle or two. It glorifies and celebrates sodomy. It increasingly supports the putrefaction of the minds of children.

The U.S. military: I grew up on U.S. Air Force bases in England, Texas and California. I used to ride my bicycle along the flight lines, racing the fighter jets thundering down the runway. I loved the U.S. military. I remember being in middle school when the troops came back from Vietnam and were vilified, thanks to the press. I seethed inside.

Now, the woke mob is converting our military into a brain-washed collection of out-of-shape liberal kids with guns.

Sooner or later, you have to.

According to a new Rasmussen poll, a majority of Americans, 57%, are willing to concede that the election outcomes may have been influenced by cheating. And, interestingly, it would appear that a majority believe mail-in balloting has become the vehicle for this.

It's the same states that seem to keep having problems counting in a timely fashion, and election officials there conventionally blame all their counting woes on the vast number of mail-ins. It's also those same states where the close elections always tip in favor of the Democrats as the counting goes on and batches of ballots keep appearing.

And, of course, the media is right there to explain that this is just how it works, and everyone has to just calm down. However, and this is where the rubber hits the road, there is an unwillingness to actually deal with the actual reality underlying any chicanery that has taken place.

If cheating has happened — now in two successive elections — it is proof that we have reached the point in America where it can happen. It should never have gotten to this point, but it has.

It's almost like the superior team complaining about a bad referee call that cost them the game against an inferior foe. While that may be true and maybe even very likely, if the team was so good, it should never have been in that position to begin with — where the entire game comes down to a bad call.

But that's where American politics has now descended to. A majority of Americans are, at least, suspicious and distrusting of the outcome, and so what? Are there mass protests in the streets like in Venezuela?

Are there demonstrations in front of governors' mansions in the affected states? Are there pickets outside the homes of the secretaries of state who were likely involved in all this (if indeed it did happen)?

For that matter, where were all the voters, years ago, when the Marxists were slowly taking control and putting themselves in a position to steal outcomes?

Here's the bottom line, the reality that needs to be squarely faced: America simply has not suffered enough yet. It will. Oh, it certainly will.
