There was a moment when it was just one person.

As we arrive at and live through the holiest days of the year, there is one very tragic yet also profoundly beautiful thought to reflect on — Our Blessed Mother's experience through all this.

In a certain sense, it is not incorrect to say that the entire Church "collapsed" into her while Our Blessed Lord was in the tomb. Remember, the faith of the Apostles had evaporated (even though it was very likely at least some of them were watching the gruesome crucifixion, even St. John up close). Their presence was motivated by love, sadness, emotional attachment — but not Faith.

Remember, none of the Apostles, as well as Mary Magdalene, James and John's mother, none of them, not one, had belief in Our Lord's Resurrection or, when all was said and done, even the prospect of it. The women went to the tomb not to witness their resurrected Lord and God but to finish the burial anointing per Jewish law.

The Apostles were shaking like terrified cats in the Upper Room. Even when Our Lord physically presented Himself to them that first Easter evening, the gospels tell us He had to upbraid them for their disbelief.

So the women didn't believe. The Apostles didn't believe. Even His disciples didn't believe. In a word, they all saw all of this as over.

Now it was turning into every man for himself. No faith, no hope, questionable charity at best.

And before we turn to Our Blessed Mother, let's consider for just a brief moment the reaction of the Pharisees and the Sanhedrin.

As Ven. Abp. Fulton Sheen observes, it is the greatest irony that with regard to Our Lord's Resurrection, His enemies believed and His friends did not.

This is the battle.

Easter blessings for you and your loved ones as we continue through the octave celebration of Our Lord's Resurrection. After a little more than a century, it has come down to this: the head-to-head battle between world communism and the universal Church. For those who truly understand, there can be no surprise about this. It was and is inevitable.

And here is the rub: The so-called conservative movement that is credited with pushing back against communism is totally ill-equipped because they are fighting the wrong war. This is a spiritual battle, the conflagration between the forces of atheism and the Catholic Church. It is not a foreign policy war; it is not a war over taxation, the value of the dollar, whether the border crisis is actually a crisis or what kids should be taught in classrooms. Every one of those, and all the rest, are merely symptoms, the outgrowth of the larger war.

They are skirmishes, distractions really, that the Right is fighting while the Left pushes its case hard and fast with stunning success. The goal of world communism is global domination, but it's not just global domination on its own. It's done with such mastery that it can never be challenged. The only moral force on earth that is capable of challenging the hegemony of world communism is Catholicism.

Woke bishops like Abp. Gustavo García-Siller aren't really shepherds at all.

There are fewer things in the Church more revolting to listen to or see than woke bishops. They are just the latest evolution in the class of men who began as social justice warriors and simply morphed into the next phase.

Take, for example, the archbishop of San Antonio, Texas, Gustavo García-Siller, a poster boy for the woke crap we see everywhere. And before we get into specifics about him, consider that all of these terms are nothing other than dog whistles for communism: woke, social justice, socialism, equity and any other substitute word that comes to mind. It's communism, plain and simple.

And communists create and use and deploy every imaginable weapon they can in their attempt to gain global domination. It's done through a combination of seizing on naturally occurring events, like the weather, and then insisting that global domination must be exerted to gain control of the climate.

It's more than just boys.

We reported in yesterday's Vortex on the legal hellhole the archdiocese of Baltimore has fallen into, owing to a flood of 600 lawsuits over sexual predation of minors.

It is very likely that, in short order, Abp. William Lori will file for bankruptcy protection for his archdiocese — the first diocese established in America.

Aside from the symbolic blow such a move would be to the Church in the United States — joining 30 other dioceses in filing for bankruptcy for the same reason — there is an entirely overlooked aspect to all this as well.

It isn't just minors that have been sexually assaulted, although those cases are the ones that make headlines because of the victims' ages.

There are also vulnerable adults — especially seminarians who have been and are assaulted by homopredator clergy.

Recall that most of Theodore McCarrick's victims were not minors, although significantly some were, but were mostly seminarians at his Jersey Shore beach house — and then this went on for years.

Charges and accusations just like this have plagued seminaries and their faculties for decades now, up to and including the prestigious bishop factory in Rome: the North American College.

Most of the time, corrupt leaders circle the wagons and get rid of the whistle-blower seminarians and then return to business as usual.

One such leader who is accused of this is the Baltimore archbishop, William Lori, the chaplain of the Knights of Columbus who, by the way, has yet to release any statement on the Maryland attorney general's report proving Lori kept predators and cover-up personnel in place.

He knew what had happened and participated in the cover-up. For that alone, if he doesn't resign, he should be removed by Pope Francis.

Don't let communist academia deceive you.

Ever notice how the commie bastards take something from history, distort it or lie about it, manufacture some altered version of it, create a new vocabulary about it, fabricate an entire narrative about it, produce a list of erroneous and incomplete talking points, push that through the media and educational institutions, and, when it's all said and done, they have rewritten history?

They are the most creative human beings in history. You've got to give 'em that. Of course, the inquiring mind would, well, inquire, "What's the point of all that?"

And the answer to that question is what lays bear the real intentions of the commies (also known as "the Left," "socialists," and "Democrats" — all the same thing). It's not that they are so much anti-American (although that is certainly true). They are anti-Catholic, anti-God. Heck, Marx even said so when he called religion the "opium of the people."

So laying aside the clear hypocrisy, the question has been asked and answered: Is one civilization superior to another? Yes. And not just yes, but glaringly so.

Despite the Marxist talking points of historical revision, when Europeans came to the western hemisphere, they found other civilizations built on brutality, child sacrifice, slavery, ritualized murder and people's hearts torn out from them when they were still alive.

But, of course, none of that ever gets presented by the commies. They fancy the presentation that these "empires" were sweet people sitting around charting the stars and quietly inhabiting the land. Creating a victim class goes back very far with the commies because victims are victims, after all, because of their oppressors.

Not exactly a good one.

It seems the Vatican is annoyed at criticism on social media aimed at it, the hierarchy and Pope Francis. So a few days ago Rome dropped a "polite" document advising Catholics not to be divisive on social media, but rather behave "not so much as 'individual influencers,' but as 'weavers of communion': pooling our talents and skills, sharing knowledge and contributions."

Well, that's all well and good and certainly has some merit objectively, but (and this is a big — really big — "but") when you have people within the Church who are "influencers" in their own right and they are dividing the faithful and depriving them of actual Church teaching and making it up as they go along, what are faithful Catholics supposed to say in response?

Does the Vatican want us talking about how lovely the parish bake sale was after the 10 a.m. Mass and that the Smiths are very excited about helping plant the parish vegetable garden?

Give me a break.

This is war — spiritual war — and the only difference now (and which is likely eliciting the document from the Vatican) is that the true believers are pushing back against modernism and all its evils. Shut up and build community? Seriously?

Not to belabor the point about the noteworthy Catholic pushback against the Los Angeles Dodgers and their honoring of the blasphemous drag show nuns, but we need to still revel in all this for a moment or two.

Thousands of Catholics showed up at the prayer rally and procession to make our voices heard, as semi-official estimates put the number of Catholics at upwards of 5,000. What appears to have happened was that the Dodgers organization, which invited the group, disinvited them and then reinvited them, felt the heat and moved the honoring ceremony to almost one hour before the opening pitch.

As a result, the stadium was almost completely empty as the twisted sisters received their award — and some of the handful actually booed them. We heard from some of the speakers during Church Militant's livestream of the event, good Catholic men like Jesse Romero and John Yep (chief organizers), Jack Posobiec, and, of course, Bp. Strickland.

It's a dead civilization.

A woke civilization is no civilization at all; there is nothing civil about it, in fact. One of the central tenets of wokeism is that white males are the enemy because they are the oppressors. And who are the oppressed? The victims? Well, essentially, everyone else, more or less.

An oddball exception is made for elite white males. Think Chuck Schumer, Joe Biden and John Kerry, for example, who go along with the narrative publicly, but privately surrender nothing of their so-called white privilege. In fact, hypocrites like that, far from surrendering their influence, actually enhance their wealth and power in such an environment. So there is a strange set of rules governing all this.

Old white males — Soros, Fauci, Gates, most of Congress — are constantly preaching and financing an insurrection against who? Old white males and the patriarchy they portray it to be. If you're not a white male but still a male and you don't go along with this, then you get pounced on by the like-minded. But again, the weird set of rules here.

A few days ago, black Republican Sen. Tim Scott was talking about his distaste for wokism and the damage it causes. Right on cue, Obama attacked him, but the irony here is that Obama is half white, enjoying all the "privilege" of that half, while Scott is all black. Obama has three spacious mansions: Martha's Vineyard, Kalorama and a beachfront difficult-to-get-to property in Hawaii — not bad for making just 400K a year as president.

It seems whatever the rules are here in the land of the woke don't follow any organized pattern. Old, wealthy white males lecturing blacks or Hispanics about how they should rise up and seize control from old, wealthy white males? Wouldn't it be easier for the old, wealthy white males to just give up their wealth and then try and conjure a revolution? I mean, if they feel that strongly about it, that would be the easy solution.

But the reality is this has nothing at all to do with white males, per se. It's just that it's mostly white male fingerprints all over Western civilization. And since the object of their scorn is Western civilization and the Church that built it, they are fighting a phony war against white males — when the real war is against God and His Catholic Church. Western civilization is just something standing in the way.

Bad theology and bad politics.

One ingredient related to the Church's leadership, especially in America, that is common to the collapse of both the Church as well as the nation is the current of Marxism so prevalent within the U.S. hierarchy. When Stalin came to power in 1922, he took direct aim at the Catholic Church and set about an immediate campaign to destabilize Her.

While it all does seem to smack of conspiracy theory-type stuff, remember that many of the so-called conspiracy theories over the past few years have proven to be much more than a theory. The same is true here. But since so much of this is "inside Catholic baseball," it has gone largely unnoticed by most conservative secular media.

While it is true that some of this has played out as what appears to be strictly Catholic civil wars, there is another dynamic much less obvious, which is no less present than the theological battles. The culture wars in the United States, it could be argued, really began first inside the Catholic Church, as Marxist notions and applications of socialism began to take root alongside theological errors.

And moreover, for another example, it was the bishops' national conference that came out publicly swinging for the fences in favor of Obamacare. It was Catholic Sen. Susan Collins, another product of the incubator, who voted the legislation out of committee and got it to the Senate floor for a final vote. It was her single vote that ensured Obamacare became law. Obamacare should really be called "BishopCare."

Obama proposed it, but the bishops, alongside their theologically corrupt politician sheep, are the ones who brought it to birth. The America we are witnessing before us today has the fingerprints of three generations of bishops and corrupt clergy all over it. *It is the biggest story not told in modern American history.*

They may be an unlikely ally against the bishops.

Every Catholic who cares knows the Church is a flippin' dumpster fire. Decades of moral, theological, liturgical and financial corruption by the hierarchy and many priests have finally come together in a hurricane-sized storm of massive loss of faith.

One of the side effects, to put it in a somewhat crass term, was the sexual abuse by priests of thousands (perhaps tens of thousands) of altar boys. It was a male-on-male sexual abuse crisis where the majority of victims were physically mature teenage boys being preyed on by adult males with collars on.

That horror show would still be going on if it were not for one thing — the secular media.

It was the reporting in 2001 by The Boston Globe that blew the lid off that evil. There was zero appetite on the part of the bishops to reform anything. Almost all of them lied and said they knew nothing of this, but as the years advanced and lawsuits and depositions and civil trials and documents and police records revealed, they knew everything, every last thing.

A long road back.

For the first time, perhaps ever, the U.S. bishops are finding themselves in a dogfight on Capitol Hill when it comes to them getting and using your tax dollars to destabilize the border.

The press conference in Washington, D.C., last week (which Church Militant covered at length) spoke about the need to end the unfettered, unaccountable access the bishops have to these funds and their use of them. That was, in fact, the entire point of the press conference.

It turns out that segues right into an effort by a conservative congressman to also cut off the flow of some of those dollars, and the bishops are none too happy about that.

The leader of the move is Texas congressman Lance Gooden, who serves on the House Judiciary Committee. He has written a letter to DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas saying Biden is "allowing non-governmental organizations ... the freedom to aid and abet illegal aliens." The letter was also signed by Congressman Jake Ellzey of Texas and Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin.

Movement has begun in the nation's capital, that's the bottom line here, and the main culprit from an NGO viewpoint has been identified — and as Church Militant has been reporting for years, it's the U.S. bishops and their Marxist-minded outfit, Catholic Charities.

Now all of this detail only makes sense if it's couched in the larger picture of the penetration of the Church by Freemasonry and their shock troops, worldwide communism. The Church leaders are quick to portray their work at the border as "living out the gospel" or some other spiritual-sounding crap. Well, of course they have to paint it like that. They aren't going to go put up billboards that say "Give us your tax money so we can weaken the republic."
