It was a REALLY good show too. I really enjoyed it. I think modern science fiction basically died a while ago. The Orville is pretty good, but oldschool farscape was glorious.
If you haven't been cited, what you do is get a new insurance company after you file a claim. Insurance companies look at previous citations, but not claims filed with other companies. By getting a new company, you start at the 'base rate' rather than paying the 'new rate' set by your company after a claim was filed.
Theoretically we could produce artificial hydrocarbons chemically. It's very energy inefficient, so we'd more or less have to crack fusion before we could make artificial fossil-fuel products. If we gain a sustainable high-energy source (crack fusion, gigantic solar collectors, etc.) then a lot of neat stuff becomes possible. Until then, we desperately need petroleum.
In terms of the war, I'm neither siding with the Russian or the Ukrainian governments. I'll side with a large group of white people that seek national self-determination. I'll side with the white refugees fleeing another jewish brother-war. This isn't our fight, but I can get behind white nationalists in the Azov Legion who have a decent chance at overthrowing their jewish leaders and instituting a nationalist state in europe if they win.
You shouldn't be, but you should recognize that thousands of conned people shouldn't be forced to suffer due to your own sense of self righteousness. We can either try to improve our civilization for most people, or allow it to continue to decay. I'm down with both, but from a 'fix things' perspective unfucking the majority of the population would be a great start.

I have a PhD and am not even working in my field right now, and underpaid for my background to boot. A bunch of boomers talk about how kids are lazy and entitled fundamentally misunderstand how hard it is to just live in the current environment. I'm not some retard in the city either, I live in a very low cost of living region of hte US and even here rent is going up and housing prices have gotten stupid. If you want economic growth you need to do something about the debt thousands of people were conned into taking. I'm not really suffering from it, had a good university that paid for most of my masters/PhD. But thousands of inexperienced workers up to their eyeballs in debt with no hope of ever living a better life is not going to fix anything. Partial or total debt forgiveness would help a lot, just limit it to citizens, then make it illegal for companies to hire foreigners and tariff the shit out of foreign goods, and watch how suddenly we have a gigantic national recovery.
Of course you'd need a strong government for that, probably a national socialist one.
