Watched an Anthony Bourdain (yes, I know, I'm glad he offed himself too) episode on Cambodia a few years ago. I was trying to decide on vacation spots, and like food. Anyhow, outside the cities they were eating bark and insects and shit. No vehicles, living in shanties. I would've been better off vacationing in Afghanistan.
I thought the way they were split up was suspect as well. Clearly she was abusive and not in a sound mental state. With a little bit more info, one could almost float the hypothesis that one of the cops did it.
Fwiw, she came across as the type that would get emotional and leave without telling him. There's definitely too much info missing to come up with a decent hypothesis.
When they split them up, I thought I read that she had gotten the van. Also, did he file a missing person report or anything before he drove home?
Otherwise it makes infinitely more sense to me that it was some kind of serial killer; iirc two other female hikers disappeared around the same time. Not saying it couldn't have been her boyfriend, or that they are all related; just that it's a pretty big coincidence, and it seems more likely that she (they) stumbled across a predatory psycho. That makes more sense to me than Brian snapping, going on a killing spree, hiding bodies, not knowing which national park he was in, and driving home like it didn't happen; and based off the bodycam footage, she seems like the type that would wander off somewhere and not tell anyone.
I also wouldn't be surprised if she had joined an off the grid hippie commune or something and has been tripping acid in the woods this whole time.
I haven't really been following it all that closely though, so I'm basically throwing shit at the wall.
I figure crocs would be self sustaining. Insert apex predators: they eat Mexican, Haitian, Ecuadorian, et. al border hoppers all day every day. For free.
What's sad is that these kids know they look weak. They know half the country laughs at them. I work with kids from all over the country; the ones who come from places/families like this axiomatically are unsure of themselves, lack self esteem and personal responsibility, are noticeably timid in the presence of others, and often lack respect for superiors. If your child looks like this, you are failing as a parent.
There used to be a website that tracked all the firefights, ieds, etc worldwide. It used web crawlers (or whatever) to collect revelant social media posts, and would display pins on a map related to new battles; you could click the pin and it would show all the social media posts referencing the event. It also showed which group controlled what territories based off social media trends in regions.
Some computer nerd needs to do something like that for yard apes. Call it something like globalchimpout.net
