The media is reporting somewhat favorably on this, so there is certainly some kikery going on here. There is no way in hell they would use the word "vigilante" in a positive context generally speaking.
It also seems like there may have been some agreement for one of the guys to stay there while he fixed the place up, but she found a buyer in the meantime and is now trying to boot him out to make the sale.
I could also see it being astroturfing in a much more general sense. Get public perception to shift against tenants so that when a mass eviction happens and people won't leave, there won't be a public outcry similar to when they tried it during COVID.
