For a long time, I thought it was illegals but that doesn’t answer the housing problems in most smaller cities.
The problem is due to divorce and women hooking up with men and having babies out of wedlock.
For every one couple who is married and living in one home, there are two women who are single with a child and taking up a second home or a second apartment.

I get that, but that doesn’t explain why cities of 30k and less people with no immigrants still have housing issues.
It’s the single parent households that take two rentals instead of one
