For NYC, This Was the Beginning of the End

When I was a kid, there were two institutions that would put a little chill up your spine when you heard the name. They’re both closed now.

The first was Spofford, which was located up in either the Bronx or Yonkers and was the main juvie hall for NYC. I grew up in Queens and Long Island and if you were a fuckup or a delinquent (I was), you were first threatened with B.O.C.E.S., which is where they take all of the worst kids from all of the neighborhoods on Long Island (along with the tards) and mini-bus them to one Middle School (Pasadena B.O.C.E.S) or the High School (Baldwin Harbor B.O.C.E.S.). Thankfully, back then the classrooms kept most of the White and Black kids separated—at least in the middle school where I was. We still all see each other in the cafeteria. If you lived on Long Island and fucked up at B.O.C.E.S., they’d send you to Nassau County Juvenile Detention. If you fucked up in Queens (or any other Boro), you’d go to Spofford. Now, I was in Nassau County Juvenile Detention for about a week. Maybe 2. It’s no fucking prize and I saw something in there that resonates with me almost 40 years later, but Spofford was much worse and I really feared going there. Just like Rikers, Whites in Spofford were a real minority. I think Whites are only 5% or so of the people on Rikers—I’d imagine Spofford to have similar demographics. In that era, 80+ percent were going to be Blacks and Ricans.

Anyway, the other ominous institution that was always mentioned as a threat or a joke to kids when I was growing up was “Creedmoor”, or, The Creedmoor State Psychiatric Hospital, which is located in Eastern Queens right outside of Nassau County. I remember my father driving us past the big, ominous buildings (It was a whole campus) that you could see from the expressway when I was a very small child and it was always scary and depressing.

The city (and the country) needed places like this, and due to greed, they all got shut down in the same vein of decision-making that privatized health insurance and pensions. Now, you have dangerous, delusional mongo niggers roaming the streets and stabbing people because there are no longer facilities to house them in. Anyway, if you find this interesting, Geraldo Rivera made a name for himself about 5 years earlier filming a similar documentary that exposed the abuses at Willowbrook Psychiatric Center on Staten Island.

I thought of Creedmoor, because the buildings have been abandoned now for at least 15-20 years and this is where they’re putting some illegal aliens now.

You’ll see in this documentary that aside from some of the Aides, most of the patients are White or Jewish and that is because most of the neighborhoods near Creedmoor in that era were White and Jewish. Now, a lot of those neighborhoods are predominantly Black.

I can believe that a lot of the people who work in healthcare, either mental or physical, are evil.

Some years ago I was at a seminar where one of the hosts was a female psychiatrist who was licensed to work in both New York and Connecticut. The sadistic bitch had the gall to joke about not needing another psychiatrist to sign off on forcibly hospitalizing people in mental health facilities in Connecticut. The woman didn't even register that the room went silent enough you could hear a pin drop and most of the people in the room were armed law enforcement absolutely blind-sided by her candor.
