My first hint was "...the Times was widely criticized for its handling of a story about an explosion at a Gaza hospital." Top tier trolling to refer to it as a random explosion when the specific controversy in question was Israel blaming a Hamas rocket for what was clearly a bomb the Israelies dropped.
Then you go to see the picture of the tweet, and there is a community note explaining NY Times losing its checkmark never happened, and it was instead a joke tweet some rando posted.
They must be mocking the MSM by pretending to have done no homework and blindly publishing false leads that are easily dismissed with even a cursory web search. Really outdid themselves this time. This journalist is a comedic genius.
