I think that would go back to the age of enlightenment in the 17th and 18th centuries, when French intellectuals decided they were atheists. This set the stage for freemasonic jews to exploit by preventing any change to the status quo and stirring up the lower classes. This caused irreparable change to the French body politic and gave the jews in France a stronger foothold.
