I lived on a little island near Finland for a year when I was 8. There was nothing to do. Fortunately, I had a shit ton of Lego basic bricks. When they began to get more complicated and come with gears, that was fun. I got a wheat thresher kit for Christmas in my teens. Built it, destroyed it, and made a few goofy gear box like things.

I’ve never bought any of the static kits where you have to follow the directions, and it doesn’t do anything. It seems like Lego hit the jack pot when they stopped marketing to a kids creativity, and instead made diorama kits so they could build one thing that looked like something licensed from a movie.

This castle is cool, if you sunk it in a fish tank.
