Going above and beyond to increase your work load for the simple sake of it will provide little benefit. However learning and growing and trying to be the best at what you do is the only way to succeed. Have to balance working hard with improving yourself. If you're working your ass off but gaining new skills that will improve your career there is nothing wrong with that. If you're in some dead end filler job find something else to do. Remaining stagnant is a slow but sure death
