It is only in the past 50 years that there has been a big push from (((the media))) to separate and atomize the family unit. A couple starting a family in their 20s, middle aged parents, and a grandparent or two all residing on one property with a XL home or multiple dwellings only pays 1 property tax, only buys 1 washing machine, etc. Pooling resources not only saves tons of money but makes the family itself and the community much more cohesive, and gives them a greater sense of the Identity that Meloni speaks of. A family and people divided is more alienated from each other and much easier to conquer.
