Killing anyone or anything which seeks to do you harm unprovoked is indeed self-defense, but it is still murder and one should never lose sight of that fact. To blindly justify and rationalize killing is inherently evil. However, as it is natural for one to defend themselves from harm it is just to kill them if no alternative is available in the heat of the moment. The absence of malice in your own actions and lack of goodwill manifest in their attempt to do you grievous harm is fundamental to understanding what makes the act of killing them in defense of your life natural, right, and just.
