I was working in Des Moines during one of the bad "polar votexes" and for a couple weeks, the Des Moines River must have been the only open water for miles because there were dozens of eagles hanging out. Eyeballing, it was around 40 any given day.
Sure as hell was a fun lunch break option over sitting in a lunchroom.
Edit: photos. This was just the closest tree to a major bridge. It was starting to warm up, so only about 2/3rds were still around. Never noticed until looking at them today that golden eagles were hanging out too.
