Call me crazy, but I don't think disputes between neighbors should be solved by murdering them. Harassment is not the same as harm with the intent to kill.

Do we even have evidence that the man had attempted to make a complaint with police, or several, and received no assistance? I'm not denying that's true; I just see people claiming it, and I wonder if they're reading those details into the story.

If he felt he had no other choice, and could reasonably show multiple times where he sought assistance through the civilized channels, I'd be more sympathetic.

I think the solution I want here is the one that's unattainable. I don't want cops involved in every little dispute, but I don't want people to turn every little dispute into a display of this kind of force.

My belief is that most situations like this could be resolved with proper communication long before they escalate to this level. There are some people that are just abysmal at communicating with other people. Particularly if this man was a vet with PTSD or something, combined with the couple being the proper kind of pricks who always have to push things, this might just be an exceptional situation that no system is good at managing. But again, that's why I would like to know the extent to which the cops made an effort (if at all) to mediate here.

Sure, don't involve cops in everything. I get it. But if people start having violent thoughts, I'd rather the cops get involved before they're shooting each other in the street. If anybody at this site thinks what happened in this video is justice, or that it's something we should want to see in our neighborhoods, they're fucking morons.

At the end of the day, the man made his choice. If someone thinks this is all that's left to do, fine. I have to assume that this was the tip of an iceberg in terms of the psychology of the shooter: obviously there is a history here. But rather than passively letting this build up to the point of murdering two harassers, why not document all of the evidence (it has never been easier to do so), build a case and then sue (if making police reports hadn't worked for him). Maybe this incident or that incident weren't enough, but if you'd had 40 or 50 to put before a judge, then hefty fines might have shut these fuckers down.

If you were going to shoot them, at least you'd have evidence you went through every other possible channel first.
