This is going to be a super unpopular opinion (and I'm aware the horse in the US has already left the stable)... But this kind of shit is what makes me glad I live in a largely gun free country.
Why did these pricks run their mouth as much as they did, quite possibly because they had a gun in the home and those things make you feel all sorts of powerful.
We also see the flip side... someone snaps and then uses it in a moment of rage. I've been in plenty of situations where things would have turned out a lot different if I had a gun. I've had shit happen that induces a warranted rage, and when you repress that to function in society and then mix in some alcohol and something to remind you of your rage...that's when people do stupid shit you can't undo.
