My last company talked to me like this, then I left and went freelance. I took a sizable chunk of business from them in my area. I taught the rest of the crew how to go freelance as well and now the company sent me a cease and desist letter, threatening me with corporate espionage! I told them I don’t know what they are talking about, I’m a simple farmer trying to help raise his newborn. The damage is already done, the company has two of fifty techs now.
It warms my heart to see workers stand up for themselves!
