Yeah that alongside the release of the iPhone and smart phones in general becoming a thing, leading to the stupid micro-transaction craze on mobile devices which bled into console games almost immediately.
That was the year we got stuff like Bio-Shock, The Orange Box, Halo 3, Modern Warefare, Crysis, Mario Galaxy, Metroid Prime 3, Skate, classic after classic and then suddenly it all went to shit. For me 2007 is when gaming peaked because developers had finally gotten 3D development down. Go back and play anything from the 64 and Ps1 and other than the handful of classics most of the games are complete trash compared to even bad games of today. I could write a book about this. Maybe I will.
