Walked into the local gold/silver/coin shop a while ago. Parked in front, started to walk in with no mask (I've been doing this at all shops and will put the mask on when asked -Costco stopped doing it a couple of weeks back now but the person at the entrance would ask you to put it on...tend to be the only un masked person) but I don't want to screw it up and I have a huge wad of cash and they are closed when I'm normally off work and not close to me so as I reach the door I see some state mandated sign about masks, distancing, and coughing on people older than 95 years old or some such shit etc etc.
I pause as I'm grabbing the door handle to read the state bullshit: say "fuck", walk back to the car to get a mask. Put it on at the door and walk inside. 3 dudes in there all laughing their asses off. They say, "we're not doing the mask bullshit - take it off if you wish." We all laugh as I realize they must have been watching my little passion play - they clearly watched my whole show on some hidden security cam. I figure that they must know what any state assholes look like and they likely don't wear masks at all unless the camera catches a state worker coming in in which case they must be putting them on before the person reaches the door.
God that felt good to be around good folks. I noticed that one of them, off to the side, never left his desk although he fully participated in the conversation and laughed when the rest of us did, nor did I ever see his hands. Like I said, good folks.
