No I can’t but I think it is most likely that something took place before the recording begins. Absolutely not enough to convict on I agree, but I have grown weary of having to assume that dogs bred for fighting and exhibiting all the signs of readiness and even preparation for attack are fairly unlikely to attack on this particular occasion.
The point that it seems to me that this man is making is in my experience correct, that these dogs are not sufficiently domesticated to be let loose in communal areas where people, especially children, and other dogs should be able to conduct their leisure activities away from what are very often dangerous animals.
Pitbulls were bred specifically for fighting and the existence of a few highly capable handlers and well bred dogs doesn’t mitigate the mass of poorly bred and trained dogs in the hands of unsuitable handlers making previously civilised neighbourhoods and parks into combat zones.
I have known one exceptionally lovely well trained pitbull with an excellent disposition and an unblemished record of good behaviour. I have known many others some very well and others less well all of which I considered to be uncontrollable and threatening and two of which eventually had to be put down after multiple attacks.
I would suspect you Rotteaux, from what little I know of you on this site, to be a capable and responsible owner who is in control of any animals you took out in public, I would say this puts you in a very small minority.
I wouldn’t seek to infringe on your rights of ownership but I would like to see the social stigmatisation of people who take attack dogs into public places where they present an inevitable level of perceived and actual threat to the other members of the public. I also support the prosecution and if necessary putting down of any dog which attacks people or other animals in a public place, except in the most extenuating of circumstances.
