Oh wow look at CBS News is defending Chinese Bolsheviks that want to destroy the United States with an aggressive fungus that destroys all kinds of food crops in the US and can infect cattle

--------

"Fusarium graminearum, also known as Gibberella zeae, is a destructive fungal pathogen that affects small grain cereals such as wheat, barley, rice, and oats, as well as maize. It causes fusarium head blight (FHB) and ear rot in these crops, leading to significant economic losses globally each year.
This fungus is capable of producing mycotoxins, primarily deoxynivalenol (DON) and zearalenone, which contaminate grains and pose health risks to both livestock and humans.
DON inhibits protein biosynthesis, while zearalenone is an estrogenic mycotoxin that can cause vomiting, liver damage, and reproductive defects.
Research focuses on understanding the molecular aspects of the host-pathogen interaction, including colonization mechanisms, toxin biosynthesis, and host resistance. Various transgenic approaches have been explored to enhance resistance against F. graminearum, such as disrupting the pathogen's cell wall or cell membrane, activating the host defense system, and interfering with pathogen processes.
Despite ongoing research, no completely resistant variety of crops against F. graminearum is currently available.
Efforts continue to identify better targets to combat this pathogen and protect cereal crops from scab infections.
Recently, there have been concerns about the potential misuse of F. graminearum as an agricultural terrorism weapon. Allegations suggest that China may be smuggling this fungus into the United States, posing a significant biological threat."

Well I guess that last paragraph is confirmed.

It's not whether or not it already exists. It's clearly a very bad thing. The pine beetle also exist but that doesn't mean you want people spreading it around.

The fact that this guy had it in an uncontrolled fashion and it was very dangerous and could be a significant threat to the United States food supply is a real problem.
