Remember the Dred Scott case of 1857? Supreme Court ruled that he and other Afro-niggers weren't U.S. citizens and didn't have rights of citizens

I always remembered this from history class and occasionally laugh about it. The negro sued for his freedom and lost. Just one and a half centuries later this country went from not viewing niggers as equals to bending the knee to them.

Should have sent them all back to Africa while there was still a chance.

Yeah... 7-2 ruling.

For:

Chief Justice Roger Taney, Southern Democrat from Maryland. Andrew Jackson appointee. Roman Catholic.

James Wayne, Southern Democrat from Georgia. Jackson appointee.

John Catron, another Jacksonian Democrat with strong Southern connections.

Peter Daniel, Virginia born Democrat. Van Buren appointee.

Samuel Nelson, Democrat from New York. Tyler appointee.

Robert Grier. Polk appointee. Democrat from Pennsylvania.

John Archibald Campbell, Southern Democrat from Georgia. Pierce appointee.

Dissent:

Benjamin Curtis, Whig then Republican from Massachusetts. Fillmore appointee.

John McLean, Jackson appointee from New Jersey. Republican by the time of Dred Scott.

This ain't your daddy's Democrat Party. Remember this the next time some knucklehead says the Democrats were the party of the KKK.
