That show was pretty good. It started to fall off at later seasons, but goddamn was it fun early on.
I hate what they did to Ragnar and his first wife. They made Ragnar into a fucking heroin addict because he met some Chinese princess that had opium. And Lagertha becomes a fucking dyke jarl, give me a fucking break.
They also made some really odd decisions, like with Bishop Heahmund. In the show, they had him captured by Lagertha, and then he agrees to BETRAY HIS CHRISTIAN BROTHERS and fight alongside the pagan Danes. The real guy? "Heahmund was a medieval Bishop of Sherborne. He was a warrior-bishop and he was killed fighting against the Danes for the Anglo-Saxon King Æthelred I of Wessex and his brother, the future King Alfred the Great." Fought to the death AGAINST the pagan Danes.
But besides all of that, it was cool to see some stuff from the Sagas acted out. Ragnar was a real person, but some of the other characters that are around were pulled from other time periods/regions.
