I had to buy new shoes today. I was wearing Timberland canvas shoes for about 20 years, because they are damn comfortable, especially for driving. This year Timberland got quite ugly models, so I opted for the only good looking model that was more expensive than usual. Unfortunately in the morning I'm quite slow, so I figured out only at home they are thin leather, not canvas, despite looking identical to canvas models.
Long story short. I used the new shoes only for half an hour, and now my feet hurt. I had to keep the feet in water for half an hour to calm down the burning feel. If you like canvas shoes like I do, be careful with harder materials. I just realized that canvas makes feet skin become very delicate after a while.

There are medical studies around saying walking barefoot is good for you. One of the benefits is exactly that: toughening up your feet soles.
