I have a newer model which has some form of cost/benefit check, and guess what - the stop-start almost NEVER activates!
It must be watching engine temperature, battery level or such; it's surprisingly difficult to induce a stop with that feature enabled. It's not user error, it has an explicit symbol which means it could/would stop but has chosen to idle instead.
Combustion engine tech is astoundingly efficient now, with tricks such as 2-cylinder mode while cruising or braking gradually. The environmental cost of making an electric vehicle is still there, while combustion is only getting cleaner.
