The reason blacks don't change their smoke detector batteries is enlightening. To do so requires TWO things and the blacks are only ever able to have one at a time, which makes the task impossible. Most blacks don't own a stepladder that allows them to reach the ceiling to change the battery. Why would they? The ones who do will not have a 9V battery. Why would they? The ones who can solve a two-step problem are rare.
