I have all these areas around my house where the birds build nests. I go around and knock the nests down before they’re completed. I knocked a nest down this morning that had two eggs in it, whatever. Just now I knocked a nest down and a little baby bird with no feathers, a little pink bird, fell out Ont the ground and was squeaking. I a had to crush it with the end of the broom. I had to. What could I do otherwise, I had just destroyed its home. Fuck. I should have looked up into the nest and made sure. If I had done that and saw the little baby bird, I would have let it go and left it alone. Fuck. Fuck. God dammit. Fuck.
I know that feel. It sucks. Around here, a big issue is turtles. Mainly red or yellow-eared sliders and box turtles. In the spring they cross roads trying to get to the lake or creek or wherever they go, and you have to watch out when driving. We try to stop. And rescue as many as we can, as well as lots of other kind-hearted whites around. Once I ran over one. Fuck that sucked. Ever ran over a turtle? That crunch sound is terrible!
