I listened to this guy’s book last year. He talks of growing up in Hawaii with his father, who is a working class university professor, and his friend’s father, a local business owner.
While Kiyosaki goes on and on with his ramblings, his teachings can best be summarized by growing from wage employee into business owner. Then into investor.
His sentiment on 401ks and that sort of play-it-safe stuff is viable for wage workers. He proposes establishing active investments which can generally lead to more wealth. In this way, he contrasts his wage-earning father against his friends business owner father.
It’s worth noting he grew up in a time where you could go to the bank and request a large loan to buy a piece of investment real estate.
I had a chance to speak with a multimillionaire. I asked him how he got started. He explained back in the 80s, his business professor helped him write out a business plan. He then presented it to the local bank at age 22, and they helped him buy a 4-unit apartment complex. He just kept working and scaling that business.
