The Real ID became “necessary” because of states like California who issued drivers licenses to illegal aliens. And since we have motor voter laws, the state registered thousands (or more) illegals to vote. The Real ID was sold to keep illegals from voting and terrorists from getting on planes. But as we have seen, illegals and terrorists aren't required to show ANY ID to get on a plane or register to vote!
