The purpose of the Auschwitz concentration camp was to process inmates for sentencing at another work camp or release them. That's right, prisoners were regularly released from Auschwitz.
Auschwitz was located in Poland which fell during the early days of the war and didn't see much combat during the campaign. While German and Russian cities were being bombed, Auschwitz was safe. Babies were being delivered in Auschwitz and the inmates enjoyed the swimming pool and Orchestra.
Zyklon B was critical to the camp's success. The Germans had read papers published in America about zyklon B's effectiveness in preventing the spread of disease from mexican migrants in El Paso texas and applied it to the dirty gypsies and jews of Auschwitz. We never heard of this resulting in spic deaths in El paso, so we must assume these treatments were benign.
Towards the end of the war, those who remained in the safety camp who were not released did indeed have high death rates like the rest of people in German occupied territory, but only after the life saving zyklon B was cut off from supply lines. We can assume at this point every prisoner who was deemed not a threat to the war effort was released (women children elderly etc) and those remaining were likely military aged men with criminal tendencies. Even still, with the total processed through auschwitz being 250,000 and only a few thousand being found dead, the survival rate was quite good in comparison to Berlin.
We can get past all the silliness about "gassing" and "cremations" considering the use of Zyklon B was proven by the united states to be safe and non toxic for pest control and the mathematical impossibility of cremation numbers. These camps were built for the purpose of deporting undesirable outside of German occupied Europe, however this goal was not ever accomplished. Given this information, we can completely logically assume that these camps only ever served one purpose - safety from the bombings and horrors of war.
As someone who actually studied chemistry and medicine: the idea that hydrogen cyanide would be a GOOD MASS KILLING agent is LUDICROUS.
1. The dosage would have to be quite high. High enough to cause cyanosis. That would turn every victim a morbid shade of blue btw. Quite unforgettable when you see it once. ZERO mentions of this ANYWHERE in ANY LITERATURE?!!
2. The BODIES would be TOXIC TO HANDLE. You would poison anyone handling the bodies. What do you do with these poison bodies? If you bury them, you destroy the groundwater, if you burn them, same issues with airborne contaminants.
