One of the main voice actors was a tranny. If you guys ever watched the first season, you typically had the main cast and a guest character: Bill from the lighthouse, Seymour the Scientist from Mt Moon, or AJ the Southern gym-leader with Sandschrew. Those were all voiced by the same tranny.
Broke my heart because I enjoyed that show as a kid/teen. The first season at least. Like most things in childhood, I abandoned them in the pursuit of sex, drugs, and rock n roll. (Well, mostly skateboarding)
In retrospect, I really enjoy the simple nature of the original first season of Pokemon. It’s such a grandiose story but it is delivered in such small bites. Never got into anime but will always appreciate the first season the pokemon. And that GameBoy game kicked ass.
