Sad discussion at work yesterday

submitted by AugustineOfHippo2 to TellTalk 8 monthsAug 8, 2024 08:15:35 ago (+40/-0)     (TellTalk)

Was talking with two colleagues under 30 yesterday and the topic of company celebrations (i.e. Christmas, Thanksgiving). These are pretty smart guys, hardcore Linux and firmware developers. I said that at my last job we had a fall festival because we weren't allowed to call it Thanksgiving anymore. Both guys just nodded their heads and one even said "yeah, that's understandable". I didn't say anything after that, but I was really saddened that these guys were so brainwashed into the America-bad mentality. Really saps my hope for the future.

I've been at my current job for 15 years, and I don't talk to co-workers about anything that isn't work. I don't need to hear from HR that I've offended a snowflake.
