If history has taught us anything at all, it's that violence works.
It gets you what you want, IF you have the will to apply enough of it for long enough.
If you want to be taken seriously you're going to have a cut a few heads off, or impale a few thousand (Vlad), or run them over with tanks (looking at you, china) now and then.
If you are willing to steel your resolve, and kill enough of them, they go away and they never come back.
Rome didn't become an empire by having meetings. They simply killed everyone who opposed them.
