Circumpolar flights do not follow a line of longitude. Sometimes they say they are going to, but there are always "problems" that prevent it. Additionally all trips I have seen are done in portions with sometimes months between different sections. These people are trying to travel a specific distance as fast as possible. They technically circle both poles but not in the way the average person would expect a circumpolar trip to look.
