Man, if you've watched enough footage from this war, the whole concept of "war crimes" doesn't exist. Both sides have done horrific shit to each other. Both sides bomb clearly wounded, non-combat operative men as they lay squirming, bleeding to death in the mud.
Drone operators seem to enjoy inflicting suffering on their targets. They'll drop one grenade, blow a man's leg off, then while he's freaking out trying to crawl away or apply a tourniquet, they drop another one, which fucks his other leg and an arm up. His leg is hanging on by his torn trousers, his arm is bent backwards, his weapon is 20 feet away from him, all he can do is writhe and scream. They drop another one. Then they watch him take his last breaths.
That's a "war crime" under the "can't murder wounded/surrendering people". There are more videos of these drone bombs being used to finish men off, than there are videos of them actually being the weapon which first hits them.
I'm not a fool, though, at least on the subject of warfare, and the thing about prisoners, is that they take a lot of resources. You need to feed them, treat their injuries, and keep them under guard until they can be taken to a prison camp. Sometimes, the situation doesn't allow for taking prisoners. If a small team of six men surprises an enemy group of 40, kills 5 of them, and the rest surrender... are these six men going to be expected to detain and bring a group of 35 prisoners with them? That's absurd, as anyone could see.
There is also footage of a ton of executions and torturing of prisoners. Nobody fucking cares. Video of Ukrainians castrating a Russian prisoner before beheading him? Yup, it's online already. Video of a Russian soldier shooting a pair of Ukrainians mid-surrender? Oh yeah, that too. Again, nobody cares- they're like, "fuck your rules, we feel hate for the enemy, and we want to win by any means".
