As far I understand the case you are correct. Abbot seems to be in the 'wrong for all the right reasons' here.
If the guy with the AK wanted to kill the dude he probably would have sprayed the car no? Similarly, no on else from the crowd returned fire meaning it was nothing like the situation with Rittenhouse who was actually fighting a whole group that had made their intentions clear.
Of course in a sane society the criminal 'protest' should have been dispersed in some organized fashion.
