Righteous indignation is based in anger, first and foremost. A person can not "love thy enemy" and expect victory over those who truly hate you for your mere existence and are jealous of your ability to create were they only know how to destroy and consume that which others have made. Anger with the enemy fuels love of the ally. Anger is the most powerful force in the human soul. Anger is an energy that powers a man beyond all other forces. I've never heard a story of a hero's journey that didn't involve him being driven by anger. Hatred is for the weak minded that are incapable of empathizing with their opponents, but anger is a pure emotion driven by cause and effect. Anger is chosen even when it comes naturally. The stoics control their love and hate. Their anger is reserved for retribution
