Become incredibly skilled or have consistent good ideas that are marketable and find someone to pay you for them. Then amass large savings and assets by living within your income bracket so that even if your skill becomes obsolete or you stop having good ideas it won't matter because you're not an irresponsible fucking douchebag that buys things he can't afford.
20 years ago douchebags were buying McMansions far far beyond their means and....it was a good investment.....UNTIL IT WASN'T. Then the whining and crying began, "da banks toook muh howse!"........it was never, well I didn't pay the bills it was always its da eeebul banks fault!.
